Childhood books
Jul. 3rd, 2007 10:04 pmI still have a bunch of the books I was read as a very small child. Short picture books and the like. Not too long ago I was going through them and realized nearly all of my favorites had the same theme: going into the dark/night and finding out it's not so bad or at least growing from the experience.
In terms of imagery it is all very womb like. I also had pretty good taste for a carpet sloth. The stories hold up when I reread them now. In particular Buttermilk by Stephan Cosgrove.
This was my favorite book as a youngster. If you ever find yourself needing a picture book for yourself or others, I highly recommend this one.
