Title: Find Him
Author:[livejournal.com profile] second_banana aka Susan
Pairing: Hulk/Legolas
Rating: PG
Summary: A man has lost himself in Mirkwood.
A/N:[livejournal.com profile] autumnauger made me do it! And I love her for it.

The elves were singing again. There was no anger. No rage. No jealousy. No reason to fear.

They were singing to their prince, but he heard it too. He wanted to rush into the clearing and make them explain. What was the meaning of it? What were the noises they made? How did they stop the anger to make this beautiful noise? How did they…

He didn’t understand, but he could feel it. Feel the music seeping into him. Hear the words as they rushed over his skin like a soothing balm. He was comforted. Quieted. Words licked at his mind as his consciousness began to emerge from beneath the beast.

Too long had he run. Too long had he wanted to hear the call of comfort whispered into his ears. He could not rush forward. If he entered the circle the lights would disappear and his elven prince would be gone.

His elven prince.

The beast had caught sight of him days ago. Weeks? He’d wanted him. So strong, but kind. Slow to anger and quick to sooth. Everything the beast was not. Everything the man wanted to be.

The man was sure the prince felt his presence. The gold tressed elf would often stare off into the darkness where the man was hiding. Did he feel the beast? Was the prince aware of the slow change from monster to man? If only he would call out, ask the man into the circle of light. They could share bread and wine. Would the man even remember the taste of wine? It had been so long.

Once the man had known wine and warm fires. Once the man had known his own name. But those days were long past. Darkness had overcome him. It was as deeply entwined with his being as it was with the woods. The woods had known a different name then. Before the darkness. The man heard the prince use it before. Greenwood. Would the prince know too the name of the man?

The snap of a twig sounded behind the man. A spider. Big by the sound of it. The man turned. He felt the anger begin to rise. Felt the beast begin to grow. Spider. Bad. Hate. Kill. Want. Dead. Kill.

An arrow shot through the darkness. A sickening crack was heard at the shaft pierced the skull of the creature. The man turned. He looked toward the clearing from whence the arrow came.

His prince was standing on the edge of the light, bow now lowered to his side, his keen eyes staring at the man.

The beast had not emerged again. The prince had stopped that. And now the man stood naked in the darkness that did nothing to hide him from the eyes of this elf. Brown eyes met blue and the prince held out his hand.

“Come friend,” he whispered. The voice was cool. Soothing. Like a morning swim in a fresh stream after a night of terror. “Too long have you watched us from the shadows without a proper meal. Or a proper introduction.” It was the first time someone had smiled at the man since he was a babe.

The prince stepped forward, into the shadows. “My name is Legolas, son of Thranduil. And you are my guest.”

The man looked at him in wonderment, unsure of what to say. He had no name to give in return. He was not even sure he knew how to return the smile. There had been no need of smiles in the darkness.

The prince sensed his unease and once more held out his hand. The man took it and mutely stumbled after as the prince lead him towards the light.

The beast shook and wanted to howl. The light would banish him! He had claimed this man. What right did this prince have to take away his body? The man let out a fierce and foreign growl. The beast tried to rear its morbid green head and force the man back into the shadows. He tried to wrench his hand away from the impish prince, but was surprised to find his wrists restrained.

The prince was speaking again, this time in harsh tones.

“Leave him, you broken pupil of Melkor. Let this man be at peace. You are banished from his body. I will not let you stay.”

The man shook violently. His legs collapsed beneath him, but still the prince did not release him. The beast roared within him as it was forced out of his being by this new form of magic the prince was wielding.

The man felt it leaving. The rage. The throb of anger. The power that had controlled his life for so long was finally banished. For the first time that he could remember he felt truly in control of his mind. He was free. Free to be… Banner. That was his name. He remembered.

Relief broke over him in waves. Already on his knees he feel forward onto the shoulders of his prince and wept tears of pure joy. The prince, Legolas he now knew to call him, simply held the crying man, whispering soothing words in a foreign tongue. “Telin le thaed. Lasto beth nin, tolo dan nan galad.”

Minutes passed and perhaps they stayed like that for hours. When the sobs finally lessened and the man was able to right himself, Legolas helped him regain his feet.

“Come, my friend. Everything shall be well now. Let me take care of you. That evil will trouble you no more.”

Silently Banner nodded. Legolas draped the man’s arm over his shoulder and helped him walk into the now deserted clearing. The prince knelt and spread out his own large bedroll, encouraging Banner to take his rest.

As the man lay down, sweet words filled his mind. He did not know their meaning, but they called him to the sleeping realm.

“Losta, melethnin. Estelio han. Stille nu. Gerich veleth nin.”

As Banner drifted off he had the fleeting thought that this, this was his home.

Translations:

“Telin le thaed. Lasto beth nin, tolo dan nan galad”: I have come to help you. Listen to my voice, come back to the light.

“Losta, melethnin. Estelio han. Stille nu. Gerich veleth nin”: Sleep, beloved. Trust in this. Quiet now. You have my love.”

I hope you like it! Sorry it wasn't up earlier, I was woefully separated from my computer.

Why thank you. There is something about growly and confused Bana that brings out a slutty protective streak in me. And spiders are enough to make anyone hulk out. *twitches*

I wanna read this but I'm working on a Hulk thing (no Legolas, but still, must remain pure in thought.) I'm bookmarking this for as soon as I'm done!

Watch the use of light in Hulk and LotR for those two characters. It's all there.

Thanks!

Being a nerd is so much fun though!

Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it a lot.

The problem with Elvish is that Tolkien left it relitively unfinished. You will find different sources saying different things about both types of Elvish (Quenya and Sindarian). Makes it kind of a bitch.

This was truly lovely.
I don't think I've read anything with the Hulk before, I might be one of the few people who actually liked the movie, (mind you, I liked it before I discovered the Bana Hotness, I always thought Bruce was soo cute, again, before realizing that Eric was in BHD and was going to be in Troy, and before realizing he was Anchor.)
Speaking of Anchor, I would pay money to see how you could possibly put Will and Anchor together :P
Anyway, very tender, thanks.

I really liked the acting in Hulk. I just felt like the actual green dude turned into an AngSue.

The ever wondermus [livejournal.com profile] elvensorceress and I had the theory that Bana/Bloom works no matter who they play and even across fandom. This is the result of too much caffine and a strong desire for the manlove.

I am so very sorry! I missed this somehow and that is just a crime. It's gorgeous. It really is. You managed to blend the two fandoms in such a way that it actually works and that is damn near miraculous. *quivers*

I couldn't love it more. Thank you so much for writing this. *hugs you tightly*

Mwah!

I hoped you would like it. It's an interesting pairing. And a lovely one. Once you get past the logistical problems such as the fact that no one named Bruce would ever be walking around ME and leggings are not exactly in fashion in the biomedical research department at Berkley... the muses are quite kind. Hardly any fussing at all.

*hugs you back*

Anytime you want to exchange fics I'm am more than willing to oblige. Anything to see more of your lovely work.

I'm still amazed by this fic. It just shouldn't work. However, not only does it work, it works beautifully. I'm awed.

I would kill for something with Bean in it. Or possibly a threesome. *holds you close*

All I've got in return is a confused Hector muse, Orli discovering Eric's inseam measurement, or an almost Will/Anchor drabble.

Take your pic!

You want Bean? I'll give you Bean. I've had a Bean waking Orli up bunny forever that has been begging to be put to use. It'll probably be tomorrow night.

Hmmm...I think I'd like a confused Hector or Orli/Eric's inseam. I'm in a Bana kind of mood. However, you go where the muse takes you and I'll be happy.

It's a deal.

Hehehe. Once I got the challenge it wouldn't let me go! This is actually my econd Hulk/Legolas fic. *shakes head*

I take it as a sign from on high. Bana/Bloom really can work in any fandom.
