Okay, devil's advocate here - do you have the $75 (plus food, etc)? CAN you go? If you can, then darnit, go. Really. If it doesn't mean you have to drop out of school or go hungry for a month, you should give it a whack. Five years from now, you won't miss the $75, but you will be sad about missing this event if you skip it. And, if going would really mess you up financially, then maybe you could comfort yourself by thinking "next year"? *hugs* [/maternal-sounding lecture]
