I'm very worried at I will need a car when I move up to Portland for school.* Now I know this is a year and a half away, but by January term abroad in Greece will pretty much eat all of my savings and work study only covers my basic school expenses. This leave me basically four months of non-school time (next summer and next janterm) to make enough money to get an apartment in Portland, pay the first school payments to Birthingway College of Midwifery, and get a car. Fuck.

Hopefully this spring I will be able to get a second work study job or a part time off campus job. My other plan (which is in addition to the first) would be to stay at Linfield next summer working (free housing baby!) and possibly get a second job working at one of the assisted care facilities in McMinnville. I'm insane.

I really want a Toyota Prius. Of all the hybrids (I really want a hybrid) it had the best gas mileage (unless I wanted a manual which would then be the Honda Insight), the lowest emission rating, most horsepower, and isn't a freaking two seater (which the Insight is) or SUV (like the Ford Escape).

Unfortunately I will not be able to afford something like this for many many years, or until I marry rich. Le sigh. Maybe there will be used ones on the market by then.

*Cheat sheet for those of you who have no idea what my plans are:
1. Continue at Linfield College and working in the costume shop for work study.
2. Take a January abroad course to Greece this school year.
3. Take summer classes while working full time nest summer.
4. Graduate a semester early after janterm next year. (Feb. 2007)
5. Move to Portland Oregon where I will be attending first year classes at Birthingway College of Midwifery that start in the spring.
6. Become a licensed Midwife. (three year program)
7. Ummm... exist.

I'm all sorts of terrified that life is going to get in the way of those plans. For better or worse.

More flist love!

Widdershin wrote one of my favorite fics ever. A Note in the Marginhttp://www.livejournal.com/users/widdershin/13979.html talks about homelessness in a very honest and caring manner. And the WIP sequel is making me squirm. She also has the sweetest replies. She really loves her readership. I want to hug her.

Will... my darling Will. He was probably my first internet friend. We haven't been able to chat much this summer as I have been woefully departed from my AIM. He is very amusing with his love of college drinks and his girlfriend. I recently told him that he reminds me of an armadillio because he can look pretty intimidating (all armory? Don't ask me how my mind works) but he's a softy down deep. And he is shiny. A friend from school commented on seeing a picture of Will that "he looks like he should be going around bashing people's kneecaps," or something to that effect. He rocks so much more than my collegiate party world.

Love cut short because I need to shut down the computer before it dies a slow and painful death. *hugs you all*

*hugs*

I was thinking more along the lines of four half naked Russians to carry me on a litter. But the rickshaw idea has it's merrits too.
