This was inspired by a class discussion about senses and spirituality. I'm not a very visual person.

I wish to close my eyes

I wish to close my eyes so I can truly see you.
Let my fingers, my breath
against your cheek,
tell me who you are.
Let my tastebuds learn the sparkle
of your laughter.
What that sparkle means.
Without my eyes
my ears see the twist of your lips.
Your dancing eyes.
I know you by the scent on the pillow.
My hands no longer touch.
They connect.

Let me see you.

The contours of your calf,
the lines of your smile.
Let me watch the hitch of your breath
with the shell of my ear.
Let me see your lips form words of love
by listening to my skin.
There is a truth in vision
but let me close my eyes
to truly see.
